Lady Luck did not a have a sports book in 1995. They did have Steve from the Headquarters who thought he could run one. He talked them into putting in the Las Vegas Lady Luck first. They put money into the players’ lounge. Nice seats comfortable tables that you could place your bets at. At first Steve was doing Ok, turning a small profit after expenses. Not a bad start.
The next test was the Super Bowl. I don’t remember who was playing, but one team was expected to dominate the other. Everyone was betting for that team. This was bad for Steve. If that team won, he would lose a lot of money. Sure, enough the expected team won. The sports book was out of money. The casino slots and games had to contribute to pay all the customers with a winning ticket.
The sports book was shut down immediately after the fiasco. We found out what his mistake was. He should have played a bet with a bigger sport book to cover if the team had one. He also should have made great odds to bet against the better team. With that he would have saved his sports book
