Nevada Palace

This was a small casino with a few blackjack tables a roulette, and a craps table. Me and my mom like to play there. The dealers knew us; the pit crew knew us. They had blackjack tournaments. My mom always signed up for those. Usually she won the weekly ones. Then the casino put up a $10,000 tournament for two months. There was one other guy that tended to win as well. The first round had three tables and the best two on each table would move on. My mom won here table and the guy won his. Then it went down to two. Finally it should have went to that last table, but no one would play either my mom or the other guy. They cancelled the tournament and gave them both $2000,

Getting food comps were easy there. We just asked and we got them. We were invited to the guest only New Year Eve’s dinner there. It was where I got to taste caviar, and I hated it. Faux Gra was on the steaks and it was good. not like to get either of them again.

The casino closed down around 1998. We missed it

I worked there in the 90’s big chef Herman and little chef Herman (he was the su chef – also hated being called that) were very German and created extremely authentic October fests that were very memorable. I got to drive both of thier saabs to get car washes when I was 20. Worked in the purchasing dept did everything from drive the van delivering meat to Renada’s to working on the Cafe menu design. Was a great early job before my IT carreer. Was a great local casino.

The food was always good. If you were part of the kitchen you did a great job. Thank you
