what bored nighttime dice dealers did

The graveyard shift is a long boring night. The game generally dies about 1am then picks up in at 6am in the morning. Graveyard shift started at 10pm and ended at 7am. between 1 and 6 bored dice dealers screwed around.
Dice were our go to bored killer.
Casino dice are sharp. When new you can spin them on your thumb. 1st you have to lightly lightly hold the die between your thumb and index finger. Blow at an angle to put your breath on a flat side of the die. If you are hold lightly enough the die will spin. Blow on it some more and it spins fast at that point you take your index finger off and it is spinning on your thumb. It takes a long time to learn this. I think I tried 3 months before I could do it.
They had chores to keep us away from the dice. Craps dealer had to sort cards. Every card used in the casino was placed back into deck case. 6 deck shoes were in 6 packages. you hand to dump them all out and the begin the sort. The exact order i don’t remember but two suites went king to ace, two went ace to king. Just like they came out of case. once you have done this a few years it is piece of cake. At Arizona Charlies Boulder we had a contest to see how fast a 6-deck shoe could be unscrambled. I remember I won with 2.6 minute unshuffle.
